Bus Crash Ruins Yosemite Field Trip
A Dozen Students Injured
May 8, 2008
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK —
A dozen sixth-grade
students and a parent were treated for injuries after two
school buses collided thursday on a popular route into Yosemite
National Park.
Park officials say the children from Yolo Middle School in
Newman were traveling to Yosemite for a day hike thursday morning when
their two busses collided at the end of a line of vehicles stopped
along Highway 120.
The injured people were taken in ambulances to clinics and
hospitals in Merced, Modesto and Yosemite Valley to be treated for
minor to moderate back and neck injuries. Uninjured children were
transported to the valley to wait for new buses to return
them to Newman.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision. The cause of
the crash is under investigation.
