Jim Crandell
Sports Director

Jim CrandellVoted as the "Best Local Sportscaster" twice by the Sacramento Bee, Jim Crandell, KTXL sports director, is an important part of the FOX40 News team.

Nicknamed "Scoopmeister" by the Sacramento Bee for reporting first on so many stories, Crandell is a hard-hitting and highly respected sports reporter with over 30 years of broadcast experience. Crandell's insightful commentaries on everything from the Kings to high school sports add perspective to his weeknight sports reports, and his Friday night "Crybaby of the Week" is well known to local sports fans.

Crandell has been with KTXL for more than 20 years. He served as sports director of FOX40 News between the fall of 1984 and 1990. From April 1990 to January 1994, Crandell anchored FOX40 News, until he returned to cover the field he is passionately committed to -- sports reporting.

Sacramento Magazine named Jim Crandell "TV's Best Sportscaster" and characterized him as "a gutsy, fearless reporter who would ask anybody anything...a guy who just played in a different league than everybody else."
