To Check File Size
Here's a couple ways to check:

1. You can check the file size of your photo when you upload it. Click the "Browse" button on the upload form and locate the photograph on your computer.

If your computer settings already have the "View" set to "Details" you'll be able to see the file size. To change the "View" to "Details," right click in any area away from the photo, and select the "View" as "Details." In the example below, the file "gilmore-lookalike" is 55 kb.

Or,

2. Use e-mail to check. Start a new e-mail and attach the photo you want to submit to the e-mail. Many e-mail programs will show you the file size of your attachment.

If your picture is larger than 500 kb it won't be accepted. You must resample it in a photo imaging program. Most digital cameras provide free photo imaging software, or allow you to send out "Small," "Medium" or "Large" photos. Try selecting "Small" or "Medium" output to meet the 500 kb requirement.
